18.03.13 Is the internet killing the scene?A scene is defined as ‘a sphere of activity’ or ‘the environment for a specific activity’. For example, in a particular environment or sphere such as the London nightclubs of the 1980’s one may observe the unique fashion culture of the New Romantics or in Seattle, a few years later, the Grunge music scene can be identified in its earliest forms. 14.03.13 Timothy HuntTimothy’s illustration is exuberant in its playfulness, created from primitively drawn characters in primary-coloured environments, and is equally suited to children and adults with a penchant for the absurd. His world is like a rainbow-coloured medieval England – men defecate on each other’s heads from on high (not a problem it’s a multi-coloured stool) and there’s a common complaint of having goo in one’s shoe. If none of this madness is to your tastes then we recommend a career in science, where literally no one poops rainbows.

14.03.13 Stanzie ToothStanzie Tooth uses landscape as an entry point to create her work. Tooth finds inspiration in the art historical dialogue surrounding the sublime, landscape as psychological signifier. Many of her compositions feature figures that seem to be absorbed by or made of their natural surroundings. Through these compositions nature becomes and emotional extension of the form. In her recent series Tooth pushes further into abstraction. The treatment of the surface leaves the viewer searching for the recognizable; a horizon line, a tree, a face, only to be brought back to wavering lines of colour.
